New Obsession: Maiden Home

Introducing my newest furniture line obsession: Maiden Home.

While home in Minnesota visiting my parents, my mom requested my assistance in sourcing a new couch for our living room. My mom has a very specific decorating style of antiques and warm rich colors, so finding a couch that would match the desired formality yet still comfortable was an inevitable challenge.

I began a Pinterest search for an English rolled arm sofa, and to my discovery was the Carmine Sofa from Maiden Home. While I’m not sure if this is the exact winner, I began trolling through their site discovering their timeless styles. The couch that immediately caught my eye was their signature Varick Sofa. Pick a light linen for a youthful look, or mohair for a moody vibe (I’m partial to the mohair in mink), the versatility of this couch could compliment almost any space with the right fabric and throw pillows. Bonus: it’s a bench seat so you’re losing fewer things in the cushion cracks.

Each sofa is customizable with upholstery and length (increments of 5”), with a choice of leg color. Headquartered in New York, Maiden Home manufacturs in North Carolina. Without an intermediary selling arm, buyers are guaranteed customer service directly from the manufacturer and without additional mark-ups. While all items are made to order, buyers receive a generous 30 day return policy with 10% fee. For those who are familiar with Interior Define, I see Maiden Home with a similar business model with more sophisticated styles and fabrics.

While they don’t have a brick and mortar, my hesitation is always about comfortability and quality when buying furniture online. I started reading through reviews on various products and found nothing but positive remarks and happy buyers. In a review published in Architectural Digest, one buyer wrote, “feels expensive and durable without insane prices.” Perfection.

It doesn’t stop there. Maiden Home has a great selection of lounge chairs, sharing many upholstery options as their sofas. Their dining tables, chairs, and bedframes are a bit less of my style, but I have no doubt are as favorable to buyers as their couches.

So, while I’m still hanging on to my Anthropologie sofa until my next move, I will be envisioning my next home with Maiden Home’s Chelsea Sofa, Varick Sofa, and Perry Chairs. Swatches have already been ordered…
